Available Position (Company name withheld)

Software Engineering Team Member

Location: Remote

Department: Engineering

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Mid Level

About the Role

We are looking for new members of our Engineering Team! Engineers at Arcweb are highly driven to own and deliver features, while learning new languages, frameworks, integrations, tools, and processes. Members must be eager to engage technical teams, as well as listen and learn from customers to confidently establish product direction, roadmap, and objectives. You’ll do great if you are passionate about your craft and have taken the initiative to develop and ship projects.

Part of our interview process will involve determining the appropriate position and level for a given candidate based on their capabilities and experience. Our team has a mix of experience levels and interests. Our more senior members actively research, assess, architect, and build complex systems and solutions to business problems, leveraging their track record of consistency and pragmatism to deliver best results. Our more junior team members contribute directly to software systems, learn the details and nuances of software engineering from mentors, and in many cases begin shipping code right away.

We look for smart polyglots, positive attitudes, and commitment to production readiness. If you join the team at Arcweb, you'll build your portfolio of companies, products, frameworks, and languages faster than at many other companies.

If you have the desire to learn, grow, and lead, come join our team. We have big ideas, and are looking for big thinkers!

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer requirements and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical client representatives
  • Develop functional and complete software products as a full-stack engineer
  • Use Agile software development practices and procedures to ensure deep team collaboration and high software quality
  • Make recommendations to software design and procedures based on assessments and planning in conjunction with team lead and peers
  • Think independently and make best decision possible with the information at hand

Qualifications

You will learn and experience new technologies, systems, and skills as you move throughout your career, and at Arcweb that will without a doubt be true. As you read this list of qualifications, know that we are looking more for a willingness to explore and grow than specifically for candidates that "check all of the boxes." You don't need to have direct experience in all of these areas to be successful here.

  • Excellent communication skills – we are often working together or with clients and ease of information sharing is key to our success
  • Demonstrated proficiency in full-stack web and mobile technologies – most Arcweb engineers are comfortable moving up and down the stack from backend APIs to frontend presentation
  • Experience in some of our preferred languages and frameworks a major positive: Python, Typescript, Javascript; FastAPI, Angular, React Native
  • Comparable experience in related languages and frameworks also helpful: React, Vue, Ruby/Rails, C#/.NET
  • Deep understanding of core web technologies including modern HTML, CSS
  • Experience with native mobile application development (iOS, Swift, Objective C, Android, Kotlin) a plus
  • A working knowledge of different database flavors and features, their strengths and limitations
  • Understanding of development tools including Docker, compilers, debuggers
  • Cloud software development and/or deployment experience or an interest and willingness to learn (AWS, Google Compute, Azure) a plus

Remote & Hybrid Work

With our roots in Philadelphia’s coworking community, Arcweb has been a longstanding cheerleader for hybrid work. Pre-pandemic, our project teams had already mastered the art of balancing time between home and the office, and today we’ve expanded that approach to allow all employees to work from wherever they are most comfortable.

Our office, located in the heart of Old City Philadelphia, is available for team members to enjoy company lunches, standing desks, and team happy hours. Remote team members maintain a connection to their fellow Arcwebbers via virtual events, demos, and online collaboration tools.

Our Interview Process

We’re still getting the hang of the best ways to evaluate new colleagues, but know that your time is valuable. As such, we’ve worked out an interview process that is fairly condensed. First, applications that pass a quick qualifications review schedule an Intro Call with our Hiring Manager for this position to make sure your goals and our goals are aligned and get a sense of whether or not Arcweb is a good fit for you.

If you are a good match based on the introductory conversation, we’ll schedule a single half-day round of interviews – conducted over Zoom – where you will meet with members of our cross-functional teams: Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, and leadership.

From there, we’ll make our decision whether or not to make an offer – no homework exercise, no on-the-spot brain teasers, no nonsense.
